The Torchlight Festival was held from May 17th to 18th, hosted by the Club Association. The Torchlight Festival is an event where students have a fun time led by various clubs at our university. Numerous events, booths and performances by famous artists made the Torchlight Festival even very exciting. Among them, this article focuses on the operation of the International Student Club booth.
At this Torchlight Festival, the International Student Club operated a booth that featured several games in cooperation with the United International Student Association. The games included Tuho, a traditional Korean game where you throw a spear into a jar, a capital quiz where you guess the capital of each country, and Sports Stacking, where you quickly set up and organize cups.. In addition, for the convenience of foreign students, interpreters were available every hour. An interview was conducted with the president of the International Student Club.
Q. Please briefly introduce yourself.
A. Hello. This is Kim Hyewon, the president of the International Student Club.
Q. What did you pay most attention to when operating the booth?
A. In order to increase booth participation, we selected easy and fun games that could promote Korean culture. We let them experience Korean culture through not only the traditional Korean game Tuho, but also Sport Stacking, which they had experienced at least once in their childhood. We also made it easy for everyone to participate with simple quizzes such as a capital quiz.
Q. What activities did foreign students enjoy the most?
A. The most popular games were the Capital Quiz and Sports Stacking. Even after the booth was officially closed, some students came to enjoy the games. In particular, the method of recording and updating scores for each game may have been the reason for the high participation rate.
After the booth operating hours were over, there were various performances by departments clubs as well as the Lucy Band and Yoo Dabin Band.. The Torchlight Festival is usually held during the fall semester, but was hastily changed to the spring semester due to external circumstances, which caused some organizational challenges. Despite this, the Club Association successfully completed the Torchlight Festival. I hope that this will be remembered in the hearts of students long after they have returned to their daily lives.
