SeoulTech Introduces New Department of Applied AI

Artificial intelligence, which used to appear only in science fiction movies and television shows, is quickly becoming a reality. Al can now communicate with people, play games, and even teach yoga. Artificial intelligence is not just a research technology, but a new field that will change future industries.

 



The AAI Department trains students with convergent talents who will lead the 4th Industrial Revolution through the connection between artificial intelligence and industry.

 



In addition to department courses, AAI students pursue other areas of interest.

 



Educational Objectives



"The AAI Department aims to cultivate skills in students who can then apply their understanding of core technologies by linking artificial intelligence with various fields.



Applied AI students learn the basics and core technologies of artificial intelligence in the first and second years. Later, students receive project-based education to create Al enhanced products and services. Examples of these include artificial intelligence model development and artificial intelligence service planning.



The department is also preparing internships at home and abroad to support multidisciplinary courses in such subjects as IT convergence, big data, robots. The aim is to promote and realize various research experiences. We will expand and integrate artificial intelligence at the center of the 4th Industrial Revolution into various industrial areas to develop the department as a leader in future industry.", said Jongyeol Park, chair of the Department of Applied Artificial Intelligence.

 



Scholarship Guide



The AAI Department provides 4 year scholarships to all incoming students. The department plans to expand the scholarship system to various industry-academic programs.







International Joint Research and Internships



SeoulTech is establishing an academic exchange network with 10 institutions from 301 schools in 61 countries around the world. The AAI Department plans a global dualdegree program with leading universities abroad, including the University of British Columbia and the University of Hertfordshire. There are plans to expand internships to include programs with the Mila Institute in Canada, the Max Planck Institute in Germany, and the Japan Institute of Biochemistry.

 



Facilities Guide



The AAI Department continues to expand necessary facilities for each industry so that professors with diverse industrial experience in AI can conduct field-oriented research.







Career Path After Graduation



Students majoring in Applied AI can enter various fields related to Al. AI specialists include big data, systems and programming specialists, web designers, virtual and augmented reality developers, AI service planners and data scientists.
