▲ Discovery Semester Curriculum Notice

From July 15 to August 27 of the long summer vacation period, SeoulTech conducted Discovery Semester. The first of its kind here at SeoulTech, the program provided opportunities to complement and expand learning activities. Also, through Discovery Semester, students had a chance to study various academic fields. Discovery Semester provided experiences such as employment, start-up and education, which are required by companies and society.

Students who wanted to take Discovery Semester could apply for up to 6 credits, and the course period was 8 weeks within the summer vacation. Discovery semester was classified into a separate semester, which means that Discovery Semester credits are considered different from regular semester course credits. Unfortunately, students who were scheduled to graduate in August 2021 were not allowed to take the course. Also, the tuition fee was the same as the seasonal semester. The first registration period was from 9 a.m. on Monday June 14 to Tuesday June 15 and second was from 6 p.m. on Wednesday June 23 to Friday June 25 2021.

All classes were 3 credit courses, and are classified as a general selection. Courses were divided into 4 types and 11 classes. The variety of courses for the Discovery semester were as follows.

Firstly, Coding School was a curriculum that looked at the past, present and future of computers through gender. Topics explored things including ‘Foundation of Python Programming’, ‘Algorithm Thinking and Data Structure Learning with Python’, and 'Web Programming for Dynamic Web Pages’.

Secondly, Artificial Intelligence School was about learning whether A.I. can create artworks. Topics included ‘Introduction to Artificial Intelligence for Video' and ‘Artificial Intelligence for Future Industrial Applications’.
