The SeoulTech recently conducted a survey among 45 students to inquire about the experiences they wished they had during their freshman year. While there are numerous programs designed to help newcomers settle into their college life, many students are unaware of these services, only realizing their importance in their later years of study. Surprisingly, 93.3% of SeoulTech students admitted to missing out on opportunities during their freshman year.
Participating in Club Activities and School Organizations
A significant 32.6% of SeoulTech students expressed regret over not joining more clubs and organizations. SeoulTech offers a variety of sports clubs, research opportunities, and entertainment events. There are also student organizations such as STBS (the school broadcast) and The Seoultech(the school English newspaper). These platforms are invaluable for not only connecting with other students but also gaining a plethora of experiences and broadening one's perspectives.
Socializing and Having Fun
Approximately 18.6% of students acknowledged that they should have been more proactive in socializing and having fun during their freshman year. Socializing is a crucial aspect of creating the ideal campus life. Experiencing interactions with a variety of people contributes significantly to personal growth and enriches one's university experience.
Joining Academic Activities and Projects
Many students tend to overlook academic experiences, a critical aspect in today's competitive job market. A student's portfolio is often the measure of their ability. Engaging in student contests or academic club activities can significantly enhance one's standing in the job market. In conclusion, a senior SeoulTech student emphasized in the survey. "Do all that you want. Even if you think you have done it all, there will always be one thing you missed." To freshmen students reading this, remember that everyone starts somewhere, and the journey is worth the effort.
