Cherry Blossoms of SeoulTech
It truly feels like spring when the cherry blossoms start to bloom. SeoulTech is especially famous for its cherry blossoms, which even attract visitors to the campus just to enjoy the beautiful scenery. We recommend several spots on campus that are particularly popular for viewing and taking photos of the blossoms. Around Boongeobang Pond, there are beautiful cherry blossom trees where students gather and relax. Between Sangsang Hall and Chungun Hall, cherry blossom trees line the road. Eoui Hall is also a well known spot where students and visitors come to take pictures. Lastly, the path behind Davinci Hall is famous for its beautiful flowers.

Bung-jja
One of SeoulTech’s most beloved spring traditions is the so-called “Bung-jja,” a combination of enjoying time at Boongeobang Pond and Jjajangmyeon. Students often bring their picnic mats to the large lawn next to Boongeobang Pond and order Jjajangmyeon to eat together while enjoying the warm weather. To order Jjajangmyeon, students can call Chinese restaurants directly or use food delivery appssuch as Baedal Minjok and Yogiyo. Friends, couples, club members, and even groups of first-year students all gather together for a casual picnic. Students usually enjoy Bung-jja during lunch or during their gaps between classes. It provides a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the cherry blossoms around Boongeobang Pond while soaking up the warm spring sunshine.
Student Welfare Committee
To support students during the spring season, the Student Welfare Committee offers various helpful programs. One of the services they provide is the rental of picnic mats. This allows students to borrow mats for outdoor activities such as Bung-jja picnicking, reading books, or just relaxing outdoors. To borrow a picnic mat, students need to visit Room 213 on the second floor of the Student Union Bldg.1. They must complete a Google Form using the laptops located in the room and leave their student IDs as collateral.
Beyond picnic mats, the committee offers an extensive range of rental items, from outdoor essentials such as L-carts, blankets, and umbrellas to academic tools like scientific calculators, laser pointers, and portable power banks. However, students should note that rentals are limited to one item per person, and all items must be returned by 6 p.m. on the same day. As in previous years, these services are available to all currently enrolled students, regardless of whether they have paid the student council fee or not.
In addition, to mark the beginning of the semester, the committee also distributed “Back-to-School Kits.” These kits included a 2026 diary along with a notepad, a pen set, clips, and more. The distributed diaries included a study planner, a pocket for photos, and class schedule pages, and are expected to help students make a fresh start to the new semester. These small yet thoughtful programs help students enjoy the spring semester even more.
Bab-yak
Another common campus tradition at the beginning of the semester is “Bab-yak.” During Bab-yak, seniors buy a meal for first-year students to help break the ice and build friendships. Typically, first-year students reach out to seniors whom they want to get close with. Once the schedule is set, participants share a meal while getting to know each other better. After the meal, the first-year students often post photos on social media to show their appreciation, and it is considered polite for them to buy coffee for the seniors afterward.
Spring Busking
SeoulTech during spring is also filled with music. Many talented band clubs of SeoulTech, such as Semachi, Graymood, SOSA, hold performances during this season. Students gather around Boongeobang Pond to listen to music.
Spring at SeoulTech
Spring at SeoulTech offers not only beautiful scenery, but also picnics, new friendships, and music performances. Spring provides countless opportunities for students to enjoy campus life. As flowers bloom across the campus, students’ experiences are in full bloom as well. We hope all students enjoy a warm and lovely spring season.
