Setlog: A New Trend in Social Media Culture

Recently, “Setlog” has emerged as a popular trend on social media, especially among young people. Unlike traditional social networking services, Setlog focuses on recording daily life over time and sharing it with close friends or family without prior editing or scenarios. As more people become tired of social media that focuses too much on appearance and public attention, many users are becoming interested in more private and natural ways of communication.

Setlog is a platform where users upload short videos, usually about two or three seconds, every hour. These videos are organized by time and shown on a split screen with videos uploaded by friends. Through this format, users can see what their friends were doing at the same time during the day, creating a feeling of spending the day together. Unlike many social media platforms that are open to large audiences, Setlog is mainly shared with close friends or family members.

Setlog first became popular when it was released as an iPhone-only application. Many users found it interesting because it offered a unique way to record life as it happens. However, because only iPhone users could access the app, its popularity spread slowly at first. Later, when the Galaxy version was released, more people could access the platform, which led to another wave of popularity. As users started sharing Setlog-related content online, the app gradually began trending.

One of the biggest differences between Setlog and traditional social media is the way people share their lives. Traditional social media often focuses on showing attractive photos or special moments to large audiences. In contrast, Setlog focuses more on sharing ordinary moments with a small group of close friends. Instead of uploading only exciting or perfect moments, users record simple parts of everyday experience, such as eating, studying, or attending classes. Because of this, people tend to share more natural moments rather than heavily edited images.

The popularity of Setlog also demonstrates how younger generations are using social media differently. Nowadays, many people feel pressure to upload only attractive photos or show the best parts of their lives online. This sometimes leads people to compare themselves with others and feel stressed. Setlog feels different because users do not need to upload perfect pictures or carefully edited posts. Since the videos are short and casual, users may feel less pressure when sharing their daily life. This shift from presenting an “ideal image” to sharing real experiences may explain why Setlog has become popular. Many users are drawn to Setlog because it allows them to easily record and revisit everyday moments.

Taking pictures and short videos has become common, especially among younger generations. As a result, Setlog functions not only as a social media platform but also as a way to preserve everyday memories. Looking back at old videos may remind users of moments that later become meaningful.

Moreover, people share their daily lives not simply to show themselves to others: Many people want to feel connected with those close to them, and sharing everyday moments can strengthen relationships. Setlog helps users feel emotionally connected by allowing them to see small parts of their friends’ lives throughout the day.

Setlog also has several advantages. It helps users look back on their daily lives more objectively and become more aware of their routines. The short-video format makes recording feel easier and less stressful while helping friends stay connected.

However, there are also disadvantages. Some people may feel pressure to upload videos every hour, while others may worry about privacy. In some cases, people may focus too much on recording their lives instead of enjoying the moment. Because of this, it is important to keep a balance between sharing memories and living in the present.

Still, the popularity of Setlog means more than just a temporary trend. It shows that many people today want more honest and meaningful connections rather than attention from strangers or perfect-looking posts online. In a world where social media often feels competitive, Setlog may represent a new form of communication that values real experiences and close relationships.
