Spring is in full bloom, and I’m especially excited to greet you for the first time with the 18th issue of The SeoulTech.

My name is Jieun Park, a senior majoring in English Language and Literature, and I have the honor of serving as the Editor-in-Chief.

Thank you for joining us all the way to the final page. Starting with this issue, The SeoulTech has expanded to eight pages. With richer content, we aim to connect more closely with you, our readers.

The front page of this issue covers recent issues regarding the university’s student representative organizations. Alongside the opening of the new student cafeteria in the Student Union Bldg.2, we examined ongoing concerns related to campus dining. This issue also includes updates on our official university merchandise.

Last but not least, we looked back at the Freshmen Entrance Ceremony for new students, as well as featuring a “Hidden Space” article that introduces lesser-known corners of the SeoulTech campus.

For those longing for a trip, we’ve included spring travel recommendations and the history of Gyeongchun Line Forest Park. For international issues, we explore major countries’ foreign policies and recent issues related to Korean visas. In the culture section, we reflect on the changing ways we enjoy art and take a closer look at the issue of cyberbullying, encouraging readers to think critically about broader societal trends.

For this issue, we are especially proud to feature a column by a professor who teaches International Relations in the School of Liberal Arts. In the midst of today’s complex global climate—marked by uncertainty, conflict, climate crises, and economic instability—the challenges faced by our generation are not easy. Yet, as the professor writes, this is also a “time of potential” for growth and transformation. We hope this article inspires you to reflect on the courage it takes to live through this era.

Next to the column, we’ve included an interview with one of our newly promoted reporters, offering a glimpse into the life of a student journalist and the excitement of a fresh start.

On the final page, you’ll find a crossword puzzle and our beloved GwakGwak Cartoon. Submit your answers for a chance to win a small prize!

We also have a book recommendation column and, most importantly, practical English expressions curated by our new reporters. Please give them your warm encouragement as they take their first steps with us.

Starting this year, The SeoulTech will be published twice a semester, four times a year (April, June, October, and December). In addition to the print version, a digital version is also available through the website, and you can also find it on Instagram in the form of card news. We also accept article submissions through Google Form and KakaoTalk channel of The SeoulTech.

The SeoulTech is consisted of students from various majors, united by a love for English and a passion for social issues. We will continue to produce a newspaper that explores both domestic and global topics from diverse perspectives and strive to create a newspaper that all members of the SeoulTech community can relate to. We hope The SeoulTech broadens your horizons through the power of language.

We look forward to meeting you again in June with our 19th issue, and we ask for your warm interest and support.

As I bring this letter to a close, I’d like to share a more personal note.

Back when I dreamed of majoring in English Language and Literature, English itself was a dream to me—something I wanted to get better at, something I held close. That dream still lives in me, and I feel deeply grateful that, through The SeoulTech, my dream now has the chance to inspire someone else.

When April gives you showers, I hope this issue of The SeoulTech offers you something to hold onto—whether it’s useful information, a new perspective, or perhaps even a spark of your own dream.
