On April 22nd, a new student cafeteria, ‘ST: table’, opened in our school’s Student Union Bldg. This is a spectacular transformation for four years at the Student Union cafeteria, which was closed on April 7, 2020 due to the increase in non-face-to-face classes. ‘ST: table’ officially opened on the 22nd after a temporary opening period from April 11th to 19th to stabilize service, and an opening ceremony was held on the 23rd. According to the Student Welfare Office, the goal was to promote student welfare and expand the insufficient student cafeteria by creating a space that respects the diversity of students on campus and an eco-friendly space for rest and communication.

The opening ceremony was held at 11 o'clock on April 23. About 70 people attended, including President Dong-hwan Kim, Student Council President Lee Dong-won, representatives of the student self-governing body, and school officials. ‘ST: table’, located on the left side of Student Union Bldg, is equipped with a total of 183 seats and two 52-inch TVs that display number tickets.

The white modern interior design creates a clean and sophisticated atmosphere, and the single seating for students eating alone is also set up like a bar table, showing that a lot of consideration has been put into it. During the semester, ST:table operates from 07:30 to 19:00 on weekdays, with shortened hours on Saturdays and during vacations.

[1,000 Won Breakfast]

The "1,000 won Breakfast" initiative was implemented with the objective of providing students with a high-quality breakfast at an affordable price. This was done with the intention of promoting healthy eating habits and expanding student welfare.

The service will be available from April 22 to December 18 from 7:30 to 9:00 on weekdays. The menus of 51 Janggukbap and Bobby Deundeun will feature one item per day of the week, priced at 1,000 won.

The menu at 51 Janggukbap rotates between pork soup and sundae soup. At Bobby Deundeun, the menu rotates among a variety of rice bowl dishes, including pork belly, stir-fried pork, tuna-mayonnaise, and seasoned rice.

When the 1000 Won Breakfast program was first implemented, some students were unable to participate in the program because the meals were sold out quickly due to outsiders.

Subsequently, the Office of Student Affairs of SeoulTech reorganized the system to restrict access to undergraduate and graduate students.

[Survey on ST:table]

The 40th Student Council “Station” conducted a survey about ST:table from May 5 to June 7. The purpose of the survey was to assess students' satisfaction with ST:table, as well as determine areas for improvement.

Regarding outsiders consuming the "1,000 won Breakfast”, 71.6% of the 342 respondents felt that the problem is serious. Some students proposed introducing a student ID access system. The reasoning was that if payment could only be made by using student IDs, it would naturally prevent use by outsiders. Additionally, students offered feedback on the problem of menu items selling out too quickly.

Respondents also provided feedback on a number of other issues. To the question “How satisfied are you with ST:table?”, 80.4% of 342 respondents were positive and 16.7%,“moderate.” The main reasons for their satisfaction were "There is a variety of menu options," "The facilities in the food court are clean," and "The prices are affordable." However, some students expressed opinions such as, "It seems like the food portions are a bit insufficient.” Other feedback included that “There are not enough seats.” "It would be nice if the quality of the menu could be improved," and "Hopefully, new menu items will be introduced."

The student council stated, "The Student Services and Welfare Team in the Office of Student Affairs which is currently in charge of ST:Table, is working on finding a solution for verifying student eligibility for the '1,000 Won Breakfast.' The Welfare Team and the student council will work together to resolve this issue as soon as possible."

[Menus of ST: table]

Kyungsung Katsu offers two menus of pork-cutlet. Bobby Dundun provides a variety of rice bowls for 3,500 won. Popo 420 sells three kinds of rice noodles. Pokpung Bunsik, Korean snack bar, serves typical Korean dishes such as ramen, tteokbokki and sundae. At 51 Janggukbap, one can taste the traditional Korean soup, gukbap. Furthermore, the bakery cafeteria offers a selection of sandwiches, bagels, shaved ice drinks, and over 50 varieties of baked goods and beverages.

In his remarks, President Donghwan Kim expressed that he had always been concerned about the inconvenience experienced by students due to the lack of on-campus dining facilities. "It is my hope that ST: table will enhance the quality of students' food and dining experiences, thereby contributing to overall student satisfaction. I will continue to prioritize the expansion of student welfare, including the improvement of the dining hall at the Student Union Bldg 2."
