There are several student groups working for schools in universities.
Among them, there are groups of students who engage in various activities to promote the school, and these are called student ambassadors. SeoulTech has its own group of student ambassadors.
However, unlike in other universities in Korea, where there is usually one ambassador group per school, SeoulTech has two groups, with roles divided so they can perform their tasks more professionally: Aumi and STEM. This article introduces the two student ambassador groups, both of which continuously strive to promote SeoulTech to the outside world.
Aumi

'Aumi' is a Korean acronym for 'beauty that unites SeoulTech,' and means 'group that promotes our university to many people on behalf of classmates and schools.' It is a student group belonging to the PR department of SeoulTech, which is different from STEM, which belongs to the admission department. Usually, the work of university student ambassadors in Korea consists of school promotion and admission counseling. However, in the case of Aumi, it is mainly in charge of public relations-related tasks.
Students in Aumi literally become promotion models for SeoulTech.
They participate as student representatives in various school ceremonial events and present a good image with their neat and professional attire. On top of that, when people visit SeoulTech, the ambassadors accompany visitors as assistants on a campus tour and guide them around the school. In addition, the Aumi ambassadors spread the word about achievements at SeoulTech and other positive news in general by publishing a range of promotional materials, whether they be online or offline.
To become a member of Aumi, it is necessary to respond to the recruitment notice that comes up every semester. Students who can participate at least three semesters, including the first semester of the probationary period, can apply regardless of department or grade. Successful applicants are selected after a process of document, interview, and presentation screening.
STEM

'STEM' is an abbreviation of 'SeoulTech Encouraging Mentor.' STEM is part of SeoulTech's admission department and focuses on admissions-related work. It was organized to provide more professional college admission counseling and includes one or more students from each department of SeoulTech in order to provide professional counseling opportunities for all students.
A typical task for a STEM ambassador is to participate in university admissions fairs held in the various regions of Korea and provide explanations and consultations related to the SeoulTech admissions process. This often involves meeting visiting students, parents, and high school teachers. STEM ambassadors also provide precollege programs where students can experience college majors by directly visiting middle or high school and conducting admission counseling. In addition, when questions related to admissions to SeoulTech are posted on various communities, ambassadors will respond with helpful information. It is also their role to assist with admissions interviews or mock interviews in SeoulTech.
STEM ambassadors are selected through document screening and a series of interviews including self, department, and school introductions. However, unlike Aumi, STEM only recruits in special circumstances. If an existing STEM ambassador quits, leaving STEM without representation from a particular SeoulTech department, only students from that department are recruited. In the event that there are no applicants from the relevant department, STEM ambassadors are selected by requesting student recommendations from that department's office.
Student ambassadors are often described as 'the face and voice of the school.' Based on what they do, Aumi is the face, and STEM is the voice of SeoulTech. Many talents are needed for the development of a university and in order to attract students, SeoulTech's excellence must be known to the outside world. It is hoped that the face and voice of SeoulTech will promote the greatness of the school to all around the world and help it become better.
