If you see someone walking down the street with an effortlessly cool outfit and undeniable confidence, you might hear a Gen Z observer exclaim, “Your drip is insane!” In today’s slang, “drip” has become the ultimate term to describe someone’s impeccable fashion sense or their overall “swagger.” It goes far beyond just wearing expensive clothes; it’s about the unique “vibe” and the charismatic way an individual carries themselves. Whether it’s a perfectly coordinated vintage look or a bold, high-fashion statement, having “drip” means you have mastered the art of self-expression through style.

Literally, the word “drip” refers to a liquid falling in small drops. However, beyond its dictionary definition, it has become a widely used and essential slang term in the fashion world. By the 2020s, the term migrated from specialized rap lyrics to mainstream social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, officially becoming a universal staple of Gen Z vocabulary across the globe. Reflecting this trend, K-pop has also embraced the term, with tracks like “DRIP” by BABYMONSTER, which showcases a stylish and bold identity. Ultimately, having “drip” is the ultimate acknowledgment that you are not just following a trend, but actively setting one.
