Jawon Yeyak, Book Resources Tab on the Smart Campus App
There are various sports facilities at SeoulTech where students, university personnel, and Nowon-Gu residents can enjoy physical activities. These facilities include the Sports Complex near the Main Gate, with its basketball and tennis courts, a futsal field and the General Sports Field (dirt athletics field). Moreover, University Gymnasium and a foot volleyball court located next to Chungun Hall are also available for use.
However, as these are facilities shared by many people, some of them must be reserved in advance to prevent a time overlap between people. ‘Jawon Yeyak, Book Resources,’ is the function that allows students to check availability and reserve these facilities. SeoulTech has been running this function through the Seoul National University of Science and Technology Smart Campus App since 2023. The SeoulTech has looked into the function in detail to help students who are not yet familiar with it.
Students attending SeoulTech can use the function after logging into the Smart Campus App. After viewing all sports facilities on campus through this function, they can check operating hours and make a reservation at each facility by selecting their desired date and time. The great advantage is that they can arrange their schedules flexibly because the function shows which times are already reserved and by whom. Additionally, it is possible for students to make repeated bookings of certain facilities if they wish. Once the booking is completed, students must visit the first floor of the Administration Bldg to receive the facility key. After that, they can use the sports facilities they have reserved.
There are, however, a few precautions when using the Jawon Yeyak function. According to the description of Jawon Yeyak on the Smart Campus App, students must provide a purpose of use when making a booking, and it may take some time for the booking to be approved. In addition, students cannot book more than four hours at once. After using the facility, they must return the key on time or pass it to the next person who reserved the facility.
According to the Eunyoung Choi, Chief of Staff of the Information Planning Team, there are no system limitations for recurring reservations. However, Choi said recurring reservations can be limited to the facility manager’s settings. For example, recurring reservations are allowed within a maximum of two weeks or subject to other restrictions.
An issue is that students are restricted from using the Sports Complex for the club and sports team events on Wednesdays, due to the university personnel using it exclusively every Wednesdays.
Choi explained that university personnel can make reservations through Jawon Yeyak, excluding facilities which the facility manager have set exclusive use for students.
