ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence chat-bot specializing conversations that was released on November 30, 2022 by OpenAI. The name 'ChatGPT' is a combination of 'Chat'’ and ‘Generated Pre-trained Transformer,’ which is short for 'GPT.'

This is a system that allows users to have conversations together in the chat. The number of users per day exceeded 1 million in about 5 days after the release. Also, ChatGPT is clearly different from existing AI in that it can perform various functions such as answering questions, coding, writing lyrics, composing, translating, and writing papers.

In addition, it can generate human-like conversations using pretrained converters in huge databases. These conversations are reinforced by learning through human feedback to naturally communicate with humans and answer questions. Also, the number of possible topics of the conversation is very large, including technical problem solving, creative ideas, and general knowledge information.

To prevent hate or discriminatory remarks, ChatGPT uses ‘Moderation API,’ a system that adjusts using AI tools. If people ask questions that ChatGPT doesn't allow, it replies, ‘Aggressive, discriminatory, or inappropriate questions, including transgender, homophobic, sexist, racist, other hateful and discriminatory questions is not allowed.'

However, there are some flaws in ChatGPT. It can sometimes give biased or wrong information and there are limitations to its knowledge after 2021. Also, it is predicted that ChatGPT will threaten Google which is currently leading the global search engine market. Furthermore, since ChatGPT was released, there have been numerous debates, particularly in the fields of education and research. The reason is that unlike basic chat-bots, ChatGPT has been confirmed to have the ability to quickly write papers and essays containing a large amount of expertise. In fact, students in the U.S. have used ChatGPT to do their homework, so public schools in Seattle and New York have taken measures to block access to ChatGPT through computers and Wi-Fi networks on university. In addition, some university students have been caught publishing essays written using ChatGPT, so universities have decided to increase group evaluations or oral examinations during which ChatGPT cannot be used. Futhermore, some universities in the U.S. have employed detection services such as Detect GPT and Zero GPT to distinguish whether student assignments were written using ChatGPT. Moreoever, Open AI has released through the Open AI blog a tool to identify whether a text was written using ChatGPT.
