The new design of the SeoulTech student ID card has been decided. It is the winner of a contest that was held by the ST'art Student Council from August 27 to September 2, 2022. The SeoulTech Student Council selected four designs among the 24 entries in advance, and the students voted for their favorite design. The winning design that will be used for the new student card is called Gwaksaengjeung, which is a Korean compound word that combines Gwagidae (University of Science and Technology) with Haksaengjeung (Student ID Card). It grabs students' attention with its impressive design, which has the logo of the SeoulTech with simple blue and red lines on a white background. It received 492 votes out of 1,276 (38%). The winning designer, Metal Art & Design Major Sunyoung Lee, will be awarded 1,000,000 KWD. In an interview with The SeoulTech Times, she said "I really appreciate that my work won the contest. I will be pleased to see all the SeoulTech students using the new student card that I designed." Regarding the next stage of development, the Student Council said, "The design might be changed a little bit in the process of negotiating with Nonghyup Bank, but we will do our best not to deviate too much from the original design that the students chose."
All of the SeoulTech students can obtain their new student card next semester at the Student Support Department, which is located on the second floor of Student Union Building 2. The card is essential for campus life because it is not just used for identifying students themselves but also as a pass card for entering school facilities like libraries and dormitories. Students can check for details about their student card by using the "Campus Life" tab of the SeoulTech website.
